Crab Coloring Pages
Our crab coloring pages offer fun underwater and beach scenes to color. We provide plenty of crab-themed printable pages for your children to color. In this blog, we provide a few pointers on coloring crabs and beach scenes, so you can make a smiling hermit crab picture resemble art. We suggest crafting ideas that add artistic touches to your crab coloring page creations.
These coloring pages provide a bevy of landscape features to also color beside the ocean or sea. You can also color sand, seashells, an ocean animal, and sometimes a sea creature.
To re-create a white sand beach like Naples or Kailua-Kona, you’ll need either a white and gray set of colored pencils or a white crayon and gray one. Make it a very light gray so it just adds shimmer. Blending the two shades helps the color stand out against white printer paper.
Choosing tan or cream lets you color the ground with any shade on any colored paper. The beaches of Honokalani and Punaluu Beach feature black sand. Beaches with black sand typically occur in areas with active or inactive volcanoes.
These coloring pages require many hues of blue for coloring pictures that feature the sky, ocean, or a blue crab. Consider using the following shades – cerulean, cornflower, royal, sky, etc. Also, include some gray and white for the billowy clouds that may appear in some pictures.
The beach coloring sheets may include horseshoe crabs, fish, starfish, octopus, or a sea turtle. Some sea turtles have an immense variety of colors in their shells. These hearty outer coverings protect them and many contain vibrant patterns on top.
We suggest reading a book or website about ocean life or the difference between a sea beach and an ocean beach. Parents can double the fun activity this coloring activity provides by looking at some high-quality websites about the ocean with their child. We recommend checking out a site on marine life and one on inland waterways, too, since some crabs can also live in fresh waters. A general marine life site will also provide information on the varied forms of wildlife living on the seashore. These beach scenes might also include jellyfish, seagulls, pelicans, flamingos, and buzzards.
Some of the crab coloring pages also include beach-related fun like volleyball or sunbathing. Color the oversized umbrellas that offer shade from the toasty sun in striped patterns, such as blue and white or red and white. Not every crab coloring sheet will include such scenes, since crabs also live under the sea, which may have waveforms to color.
Use a stomp to blend the colors on the coloring sheet so the different hues of your ocean waves look realistic. Stomps also work well to blend colored pencils, crayons, oil pastel sticks. This method does not work with watercolors. Add water to the watercolors to lighten a dark shade. Use light gray or white paint to blend the other colors. Jazz up boring sand by adding glitter or glitter glue. Use silver glitter glue to make white sand beaches sparkle just as they do in real life.
Finally, remember to shade the marine animals and landscape in the coloring picture, so they look real. Real animals and objects cast a shadow to the side, behind or in front of them. Shade one side of the crab to give it a 3D effect. Make these free printables into crafting projects by adding buttons, yarn, thread, stickers, etc. You can turn any coloring page into a 3D craft by adding other media to the page.
